Do you remember?
Most of us started school here.
Wish we had this facility
This Memory Book (MB) was conceived in early 2020 by the CHS Reunion Committee which formed a Memory Book Committee. In this case, a committee did a good job, probably because it wasn't composed of bureaucrats. The photos you see below are intended to get you curious as to what is in our MB. The MB files below can be downloaded to any of your electronic devices. All the files are in digital form so you can view the photos in high resolution and we can change or add almost anything at any time. In this form, everyone is free to download any of the files and view them at your leisure. They are in a very popular PDF format and everyone should be able to view them.
If you want to know what the photos are below this, you can find them in the History section of the MB. All the photos are in high resolution so the files are all very large. They are in high resolution and even though photos may appear to be small on a page you are viewing you can have the PDF viewer or reader expand or enlarge them to see more detail. You will want to do that when you get to the Classmate section where classmates have included photos in their section, which appear the size of a postage stamp in some places on their page. Enlarge or zoom out on the page and the photos will remain in high quality so you can see the details and you won't be disappointed.
The CHS MB is inside the PDF files listed below. Once you download a file you can view it with a PDF viewer or reader. All photos are in high resolution except the newspaper clippings. Since the photos are in high resolution you can zoom or expand a photo to get a better view without the image being distorted or fuzzy.
The Memory Book is divided into sections because there is a limit to the size of the files we can edit and create and which can be downloaded. Also, MS Windows limited the size of what we could produce in our desktop software. Believe it or not, we could only work on 3 GB at a time. The PDF files are much smaller but the program and OS use a lot of memory to produce those PDF files.
If you didn't graduate close to 1970 or you are not a CHS classmate most of the files won't interest you. However, the History and the Stories should be interesting and captivating.
There are 5 and soon to be 6 sections about the History in this MB about and around Caldwell Idaho:
1) Memories of the 1970s that include the more popular Record Albums, Books, Cars, Fashion, Movies, Products, Television, and News.
2) 1970's history, some Ads, and newspaper clippings.
3) Notable CHS Graduates. Talks about the origin of Caldwell. Sometime between 1940 - 1952, Sam S Foote gave one or more speeches, and his speech is included with some photos in this section.
4) Continuation of Caldwell's History. Caldwell Time Line, and some local newspaper clippings.
5) Photos and explanations of Caldwell from 1867 through 1928. Did you know that Indian Creek flooded Caldwell a couple of times?
6) Not ready at this time but will be another speech given by Elizabeth Corn who was related to Sam S Foote and spent several years researching Caldwell. I hope soon to find the time to create this History Section about Bug Town.
The files named Class Photos, Extracurricular, Reunions, and Teachers and Staff only have photos. The Class Photo and Reunion sections are incomplete. At some time, I hope people who physically have photos not in these sections will send me high-resolution scanned copies and I will add them. Please don't send your photos only send high-resolution scans of the photos. The Class Photo section is missing the most, so if you can help I'm certain everyone will appreciate it.
I would appreciate it if anyone could help me with names in the Class and Reunion photos to identify as many classmates as possible. I only recognize a few, so if you want to help, please contact me.
The stories are written by our classmates and as far as I know, were real. The jokes come from many different sources and are there for your enjoyment.
This section includes every classmate who graduated in 1970. There were several people who helped with the MB and are noted in the Special Thanks file. Several classmates greatly helped in getting information from classmates, doing research, looking through newspapers, finding obituaries, and contacting everyone. Countless hours were spent on this MB.
Each classmate has their 1970 photo in their section, except for several who didn't get their photo taken or added to any of the High School Yearbooks. We tried to contact everyone, but many either did not respond or we couldn't contact them. The best part is from those classmates who responded with their personal history after graduation, memories while in CHS, or some who included both. The stories from the classmates who submitted something are excellent and are worth reading a couple of times.
Deceased classmates have obituaries if we could find one. If you have an obituary not in this section, want to talk about a classmate, or want to add something to their obituary, please contact me. I am very sad we could not find obituaries for many classmates and I'm depressed when we have an obituary of less than a paragraph talking about someone's entire life. If you can help, please do.
If you want to add your story or memory or want to update your section please contact me and I will add what you want. Please send photos with whatever you send and please add captions to those photos.

The files below have a name followed by a month and year date. If you have not downloaded a file, please do. If you have downloaded a file in the past you can look at the date behind the name to determine if you have the latest file. If your file is older than any of these you see below, you should download the new updated file. For example: if you downloaded a file with the 4-21 date, this means the file was made in April of 2021. If the same named file here is dated 9-24, you should download this latest September 2024 file. If you have any questions about this MB or are having trouble downloading a file, please contact me.
Many classmates have spent countless hours searching, being on the phone, emailing people, trying to contact classmates, working on Caldwell and 1970-era research, helping with the reunion, and of course, the actual MB you see on this webpage.

All the hours spent along with paying for expenses on the reunion and donations by everyone was a gift of love to other classmates. I think all would say it was worth it and would do it again.
To maintain this part of the website I need a good computer, updated software, pay for the Domain and web hosting for this MB Internet presence, and of course, time to work on everything. I intend to maintain this Internet presence as long as I can.
We have cut all of our expenses, and I have changed our website to cut the expense in half. We are hoping the cuts we have made will keep this website up so all our classmates can enjoy this MB.
I want to see our CHS Memory Book stay online so everyone can access it. If you also want to see this CHS Memory Book stay online, please consider donating something. If you can, go to the Contact Us page and send me an email. Any donations not used to maintain this MB and website will be sent to the reunion committee to be used in the next reunion.
Even if you don't want to donate, please contact us and give us any suggestions or comments you have that can make this MB better.
